The State Game Lodge has a beautiful location within Custer State Park, offering a scenic backdrop for nature enthusiasts. However, my experience here was marred by poor dining choices and unclean accommodations. The rooms were comfortable but lacked proper cleanliness, and the service felt inconsistent. While there’s potential in the menu, my meals were disappointing, making it hard to recommend this lodge for a pleasant stay.

The room was comfortable upon arrival, but I was taken aback by how unclean it was. I found evidence that it hadn't been properly cleaned, which was quite unsettling.

Overall, the service was lackluster, especially at the dining room, where my concerns were not adequately addressed. I felt like the staff didn't have enough training to handle issues effectively.

The State Game Lodge offers a mix of historic charm and modern comfort, right in the heart of Custer State Park. While the cabin experience was marred by a mouse problem, the location was superb, providing easy access to beautiful parks and buffalo safaris. Though the stay wasn't flawless, the dining experience pleasantly exceeded my expectations, making this a memorable trip overall.

I stayed in a cabin that unfortunately had a mouse issue, which was quite concerning. I noticed traps in the room and found mouse droppings on the beds each time I returned. Overall, the cabin was reasonably furnished but not ideal.
Service

The check-in staff seemed indifferent to the mouse issue I raised, which was disappointing. However, I appreciated the staff's courtesy during our previous stay at Legion Lake.

I had a fantastic stay at the State Game Lodge nestled within Custer State Park. The staff were incredibly attentive and went out of their way to provide helpful recommendations. I loved the restaurant; the food was delicious, and the atmosphere was charmingly historic. However, the noise level in the older part of the lodge could be a bit bothersome at times. Overall, it's an excellent choice for anyone who appreciates history and nature.

We had a mixed experience at our recent stay. The location was gorgeous, and the wildlife around was stunning. However, our cabin encountered a few issues, and we had to switch cabins, which could have been a hassle if not for the quick service. Overall, it was a decent stay despite a few hiccups.

The cabin was very clean and offered a lovely fire pit and porch, perfect for relaxation. We had to switch cabins due to the busy season, but the transition was handled quickly and efficiently.

Our family had a great time in the two cabins, which were perfect for our group of 10, including four kids. The beds were comfy, and we had ample space to relax. However, there were a few maintenance issues that could use attention, like a stove burner that was out of order and a lack of kitchen essentials. Overall, it was a lovely stay, but a few improvements would make it even better.

Rooms

The cabins were clean, spacious, and had comfortable beds. However, there were some missing kitchen items, which made it feel a bit lacking for the price we paid.

Location

The location was fantastic, close to the lodge and yet private enough to feel like a getaway. We even spotted big horn sheep nearby, which was a treat.
Dining
7.0
We didn't have the chance to dine much, but the little bit we did have was decent. A bit more variety would have been nice.
Facilities

The overall setup was great for families; just wished for some minor updates to the amenities in the kitchen area.
